Inspired by the Sinner's movie 🎥 , this collection explores the places our sins can take us. Each painting is an interpretive piece from still shots of the movie trailers. An ode to the blues of black culture, Vi strives to transmute generational trauma through healing expression in art.
The Inspiration behind Volume VII:
This piece is titled “Lady in Red” 💃🏽 In “that scene” a lady in red appears in swooping motions, often crossing our screens to gracefully shift a perspective from chaos to synergy. Her ballet style was reminiscent of the great Misty Copeland which is what inspired me to focus on her presence and motion in this collection. A powerful depiction of movement and emotion, this artwork immerses viewers in an ancestral dance experience. Amidst warm, glowing lights, the time pieces express the euphoria and rhythm of a lively night in their respective periods, dressed in vibrant attire for the culture.
Throughout history ladies in red have been depicted in cinema as entertainers, disrupting the peace with their beauty, their talent, and their presence.
