Business Baddie

Do you know that you’re a baddie? The WareHouse and I always knew we were the prize and spent our lives throwing all of our energy into business pursuits as they came. “You need to choose one thing”, “You’re all over the place”, “That’s alot of ideas”, are some of the most common doubts I heard as a business owner who identifies as an artist first. But as artistic as I am, I always knew I had a business mind. Here’s a few challenges I encountered on my journey to becoming a Business Baddie:

  1. Imposter Syndrome: We all struggle with it. We let those voices of others cloud our calling and we hesitate, stall, sometimes even talk ourselves out of our own blessings. You are your ancestor’s wildest dreams, and it’s time you knew it too.

  2. Looking for Support (in all the wrong places): One of the biggest obstacles I had was letting go of the idea that just because people care about me they will want to support me following my dreams. Sometimes our biggest enemies are our closest friends, and when they don’t get excited, sign up or donate to our business financially then we retreat to our corners and go, “oh even my friends won’t buy this product, I’m doomed!” After over a decade of business I can honestly say the best clients started as strangers. They invest in my business, promote my business, challenge my expertise as a business owner etc.

  3. Waiting for the Perfect Timing: If you’re an entrepreneur and a perfectionist like the me then you probably struggled or are struggling currently to take that leap of faith into your business/brand. For me, it was a book that I read that encouraged me to “say yes” to all things that nurtured me as an artist in a year. Even if I didn’t feel “ready”, I said yes to all the things and it led me to where I am now. That first year of leaning all the way in taught me so much about myself and business style because I had no choice but to build as I went. Even this brand was built by Vi walking in their purpose, sharing a vision, and simply executing with what we’ve got. So if you’re waiting to start for that “perfect time” I’m here to tell you there is no perfect time. If you have a calling for your purpose or gift, go forward and activate that gift. God will take care of the rest when you’re ready.

If you’re thinking these three bullets equal the perfect side hustle turned six-figure income you’re sadly mistaken. There were tons of failures, unhappy customers, fumbled bags and life turns that got us here. But the best part about it is the journey, and in the end you’ll find yourself to be the Business Baddie that you are.
